Networks 0903

This article is called “losing face”, and it was published on November 6th 2008 in The Economist. In it we find an article that talks about how social networks(such as Facebook or MySpace) have damaged the image of British Airways and Virgin Atlantic due to derogatory comments posted by the crew of both airlines on the internet.
In the article the author tells us how several workers from both airlines were fired due to negative comments posted in Facebook(and similar social networks) about passengers and the company’s safety standards. These type of actions have made the firm’s image become harmed and this has made the author believe that both airline's education programs might not be good enough. The other big issue is that none of the companies knew about it until customers began to complain about it, so the author encourages both of the airlines to keep control of it’s worker's online activity in order to avoid these things from happening.
